BIPOC have said it over & over (before most of 'em left for Blue Sky), but if a white woman with lots of followers here here has just been driven into "taking a long break" because of the toxicity of the reply guys here, perhaps some of the white folks here might now be ready to realize that aspects of culture here on Mastodon can be really toxic and the tools for dealing with it are less robust here than what is reportedly available elsewhere. #Sexism #Racism #JustDebateMeBros

Because I don't program, I'm not sure what to do. I try to be welcoming myself. I try to boost marginalized voices, and I try to talk back to shitty people without incentivizing them to further "debate me, bro" behavior. I warn, I block.
But ultimately, I think it's the ones who can script, program, design UX, etc here that need to be listening to what BIPOC folks (including those in tech) have already said about what they'd need to feel safe here. The ones who can contribute to programming and
