Does obscene wealth turn people into sociopaths, or does it simply reward people with sociopathic tendencies?
Does obscene wealth turn people into sociopaths, or does it simply reward people with sociopathic tendencies?
@aram Who cares? How do we stop them?
@aram Both are definitely true, independently. Sociopaths are more willing to take wealth unfairly, but obscene wealth granted to normal people also soils the heart.
Notch was a reasonably nice person (by cishet white male standards) before his Minecraft payout. I often wonder how different of a person JKRowling would have been if she had never hit it big.
@aram theyve proven that obsene wealth breaks your brain
@aram it amplifies who we already are. Compare the assholes we talk about every day to Dolly Parton or J. David Bamberger.
@aram it is because of them being a sociopath that they are obscenely rich.
@aram Bellends are going to bell
@aram I don't think you get obscene wealth without being willing to crush a few people along the way.
@aram @jalefkowit But also - the a**hole effect
