The problem isn't Signal itself; it's that including the firebase-messaging dependency is akin to including malware, even if Play Services aren't installed on the user’s phone.

That’s why having alternatives such as #UnifiedPush is so important.

@daniel aurora store is a frontend for play store. so the "google version" from play store has it as dependency. don't download that.

another user commented in the bug report, no such issue with signal downloaded from website APK.

@uhuru looking at the dependency list I'm reasonable sure that both the playstore and the website/github version include the firebase-messaging library
