Is there a better word for "hackathon", when it's not meant to be competitive and open for other forms of creation than just programming?

@pintoch In design, usually a “workshop”, it’s probably the most generic name. Same in arts I think.
For games there’s “jam”, for comics “24-hour comic days”, a lot of others have that time in the name, “48-hour short film contest” or something.
@pintoch the common Swedish term for editathon is skrivstuga. Like writing hut or Schreibhütte. Just a cozy place to meet 😃
@pintoch A demoparty ? :D
@totetmatt that actually sounds really good! :)
@pintoch Definition fit perfectly, it just that usually demoparty is really graphics oriented :D
@totetmatt @pintoch i never heard of this one, maybe easy to repurpose? definitely sounds fun and more open than a -thon
regardless of the name i wonder how to help a broader range of people or people with non-tech skills to hear about such an event and feel like "i should go!", like what way of framing it would give them the sense they can be full participants
