Did you repair the table? I hope not. Some lessons are worth preserving.
@bruce @StormyDragon No. 15 years later, on a daily basis we are reminded of our foolishness. The hole adds to the historical patina of the table. Also, written underneath the table: "I hate mum and Brenda and John" in green texta, presumably by a small child having a tantrum years before we acquired the table.
@StormyDragon We almost had that happen with a small snow-globe (barely 10cm in diameter); fortunately I smelled the smoke before any flames started up.
