I found my old iPod and I’ve ordered a PS Vita. It’s all part of experimenting with how I use digital technology in 2026.
On top of my update, find plenty of great reads from the past month in the January recap.

@parismarx I’ve been debating modding a 3DS in the same way. I have a Steam deck but want something I can shove in my pocket
@cpgsaw i just feel like all these modern handhelds are way too big imo, i get they need bigger screens because they're playing modern pc games, but i don't like the size
@parismarx been trying to get my iPod 80gb into use again. 7k songs I've not listened to in about 15 years. The iPod works, but the old Bose died long ago, so it's just what to play it through...
@parismarx great minds…just flash modded a 3rd gen iPod and honestly loving it. Listening to music using it feels so much more intentional. I’m also enjoying using Bandcamp and Qobuz rather than streaming.
@Alastair I’m on Deezer for streaming! I don’t foresee myself giving that up in the near future, but maybe by this summer. We’ll see how it goes
@parismarx fair – I still use Apple Music but hoping I can slowly wean myself off it as I rebuild my own music digital/physical library. Qobuz also do a streaming plan so I might switch to that or check out Deezer if I find it too hard to quit streaming altogether.
Buying a used Vita has been on my to-do list for a long time. Unfortunately, even used ones are still expensive here in Brazil. :v
Will you use it exclusively for games or also for other things (like media in general)?
@Lunagris I think it’s just going to be for games! I ordered one from Japan because I heard they tend to be in better condition over there.
@parismarx that makes sense. High chances there are a lot of "new" devices still in stock in some places.
