@dimillian I don't think you understand what I'm proposing. I don't think France/the EU should ban X for not regulating their content, I think they should ban X for the same reason China banned Facebook in the 2010s, so that they can give their home-grown alternative platforms a chance to thrive.
Literally every platform we use in Europe is owned by an American corporation, whenever me and you interact, do business, etc. a part of that money is siphoned as rent to the US.

i don't know about the media situation in france and their understanding of liberties.
I only know that in germany you can ban media however its very strictly regulated to the highest of hatespeech and crimes. there has been a handful of media that is banned since 1948
an example is "der stürmer" .
