Huh, cool. A #Fediverse professional network: https://nolto.social/ 🤞🏻 that it makes progress. The current sway of a shit platform like LinkedIn sorta makes me puke in my mouth regularly.

@lightweight Made with loveable AI. 😒 Kills it for me for the environmental aspect alone. Loveable's privacy policy shows links back to big AI providers. Too bad, nolto is hosted on Codeberg, so not a two wrongs failure.
@lightweight Thanks, Dave, will check it out!
@jackyan to be fair, my enthusiasm has been tempered by being made aware that the project is the product of 'vibe coding'... Sigh.
@lightweight Oh dear. I looked at one of those sites after a mate put me on to it. The generated site looked OK but there is no way I would trust the code.
@jackyan Yeah, same. Code-slop. Slopware?
@lightweight "Built with ❤️ on Lovable.dev"
Such promise down the drain.
@Firesphere what am I missing?

and

It's a shame it's "built" with vibes and wishes.
@Firesphere
> It's a good idea, but I won't trust any personal information to an explicitly AI-build project
Seems like a better way to build something like this would be to start with a general-purpose AP server, like Bonfire or Emissary, and build it as a front-end on that server core. That massively reduces the work and complexity of creating a new fediverse app, and allows the dev to focus on the UX they want to create.

Yeah, I still have a LinkedIn account, but I’m pretty turned off by the idea of a “professional” network. Which makes stuff like this an uphill climb (that’s BEFORE hearing that it’s vibe coded LOL)
But a “job board on the Fediverse” might make sense. I’ve seen the #GetFediHired hashtag a bunch. Do you think there’d be interest in making that a little more structured?
@benpate @strypey @Firesphere @lightweight @ivan @mayel @Bonfire I liked the early days of LinkedIn before Microsoft bought it. It was more about networking and not just ads and job listings. Of course, I also miss lively mail-lists and Usenet groups. #old

I'm not its target demographic at all. But I have one friend who really likes it for the high signal-to-noise ratio created by members using the same identity they use in a professional context. This leads to long form posts about stuff the author has practical experience in, and selects against viral dynamics, low effort shitposting, and squabbling in the comments.

@Firesphere yeah, that's fair.
@Firesphere ah, hmm. That's a bit concerning. Thanks for the head's up.
@lightweight @Firesphere I noticed the same thing, by a different route - at https://github.com/Jtensetti/fediverse-career-nexus/commits/main/ the author has [bot] in the name.
Also too many emoji in https://github.com/Jtensetti/fediverse-career-nexus/blob/main/README.md
@lightweight @Firesphere And on their home page they claim to federate with everything, which is just impossible. I've tried.
