Ian Dury standing on a street and holding a walking stick.

Have you been hit with a rhythm stick?

You could be eligible for personal lan Dury compensation.

@dgar I remember constantly playing the B side, on the community centre's juke box. It was called "There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards". Better than the A side too! 😁

Playing the B side (of #hitmewithyourrhythmstick #IanDury #IanDuryAndTheBlockheads)

"There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards" was on the B side to get more financial support for Ian and his former mates, bc they owned the copyrights

Ian Dury and the Blockhead’s biggest hit, reaching #1 in the UK Charts in 1979. Dury said the song carried an “anti-violence” message.

[Verse 1]

And the gardens of Japan
From Milan to Yucatán
Every womans, every man

[Chorus]

Hit me with your rhythm stick
Hit me slowly, hit me quick
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

[Verse 2]
In the wilds of Borneo
And the vineyards of Bordeaux
Eskimo, Arapaho
Move their body to and fro

[Chorus]
Hit me with your rhythm stick
Hit me! Hit me!
Das ist gut! C'est fantastique!
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!
