@transience I just learned about "broken heart syndrome" and while it sounds really serious, what led me to it was trying to imagine how to better describe to someone what I could only describe as "feeling bad," or just "whatever the fuck is wrong with me."
But there's this whole emotional aspect that doesn't make sense when I *actually am* surrounded by support and love I can't deny.
I've always been able to deny the love based on how I feel.
Anyway … "stress hormones" generate these feelings.
@travisfw That sounds about right. We Autistics are often prone to a myriad number of conditions and diseases caused by an excess of stress hormones.
@transience yeah exactly.
And if this really is a common thing for other Autistic people, communicating what's happening could be a lot easier if you can say, "you know how you feel when you're broken hearted?"
It's hard to do things. It can be hard to even move. You feel pain in your chest.
I don't know about you, but I get this feeling a lot and it causes a lot of problems in my life and I just drop off the map because I don't know how to tell someone about it. Morning is just a common time.
@travisfw 🫂 I only feel it during particularly stressful phases of my life. Where you are though, Travis, and what you and your community are going through right now, all I can say is, you’re a true survivor for being able to function at all in that environment. 🫂
