@fluconf I'd like to thank a few folks who's work helped me while writing the article.

@kissane article about Meta's Role in the genocide of the Rohingya is required reading helped to gestate the idea of digital poppets.

Written in response originally about #threads comming into the fediverse. It's something for folks to think about with VC funded tech coming into this space. It's a heartwrench to read. But I think folks should.

Facebook Destroys Everything: Part 1 - Faine Greenwood

In Southeast Asia in the early 2010s, I watched as Facebook began to destroy Myanmar from the inside out. Here's why I'm never using Threads.

@fluconf @johnnyryan and @wchr investigation into Real-time Bidding was a report that really defined what was being collected about us to be sold to advertiser's. It was another report that inspired my idea of my information being more like poppets. As Johnny noted a few days ago Real time bidding data is still a major security threat.

@fluconf Finally I mentioned @aram earlier, but I'd also like to thank him.

I got the book just at the tail end of last year. While I knew some of the subject matter, this covers so much more. It's a really good read and why wouldn't you support an author on the Fediverse?

The Secret Life of Data: Navigating Hype and Uncertainty in the Age of Algorithmic Surveillance .
