If you're curious about temperature conversions for Fahrenheit and Celsius, it's approximately:
(F-30)/2=C
(C*2)+30=F
If you're curious about temperature conversions for Fahrenheit and Celsius, it's approximately:

@Alice "approximately" ??? So that's not even the correct formula 😅
@Alice I'm useless at conversion but my mum always said "82°F is 28°C" so one number is the other number backwards.
So, as long as one of those temperatures is mentioned, I'm all set! If not... well... Who knows? Could be hotter than the sun.
WELL LOOKIE AT ALICE SWINGIN' HER MATH DICK AROUND
@Jorsh It's shaped like the square root symbol.
Forty two metric beers!
Those temperature rules don't apply to the ABC broadcaster in Australia - check closely the scales, the values across scales, the number of sub-division ticks, the progression of values, … just *everything*😤
ha, you're the best at math, too . . .
@Alice I had to learn this for a wine regions exam but forgot it the following day, TY for the reup
Speaking as someone with a math minor and helping my youngest get a degree in math...

I'm gonna have to put you on the naughty list.
I tried your formula at the basic end points, 0, 100 for C>F, then 32, 212 for F>C, and really didn't like the values I got.
Since I'm in reply mode on phone, I don't have the formulas in front of me. I also should have seen what the formulas do at -40.
(F-30)/2=C
(C*2)+30=F
-40F=-40C,
(-40-30)/2=-70/2=-35C
(-40*2)+30=(-80)+30=-50F
Yes, they're approximations, as you said, but the margin of error is too high for my tastes, and it kind of stays that way except around 0C.
Additionally, I was a lightning calculator kid. I've slowed down in my dotage, but there's still that twitch when I see that scale of divergence.
So. Naughty list.
@NuclearOatmeal It's a thousand times better than a dumb oversimplified table that only lists Celsius as 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 and those exact conversations.
Just use the simplified formula to get very close for *any* degree measurement.
Or... You could use the real formulas, he said brattily.
@NuclearOatmeal I’m really good at remembering formulas and even I don’t care about remembering C=(F-32)/1.8
Let's use 83 degrees Fahrenheit as an example
Accurate formula:
(83-32)/1.8=~28
Approximate formula:
(83-30)/2=~27
A 1–2 degree tolerance is fine with me for the sake of simplicity.
@Alice All I know is that one of them is harder to understand than the other. And I won't say which one it is. 😅
@Alice that seems right… to a degree
Apologies to those who followed me for boner jokes.
@Alice it’s fine, just do inches and centimetres next
I always wondered how to convert metric boners to imperial boners.
@Alice But... But the weiner avatar...
@a_phlaming_phoenix @Alice I'll keep whining about the American spelling of 'Wiener' 😏
@ElBeeToots @a_phlaming_phoenix We don’t spell it that way. We know the German spelling is ie for an E sound. The rest are just misspellings.
@Alice You could have at least done inches to centimeters, shm
@Alice
I will accept a refund
@Alice I followed you strictly for your apologies. If you stop apologizing i will experience an existential crisis.
I am serious here, as much as fossil fuel producers are serious about being ethical!
Hold firm!
Keep a stiff (upper lip)!
Hold yourself well, stand erect!
Or something....
@Alice I want my money back.
@Alice what is that in hot pockets though
