How many people here would be interested if I did a digital security/privacy advice blog somewhere?
How many people here would be interested if I did a digital security/privacy advice blog somewhere?
hand energetically raised high
@evacide you’d go right into my RSS reader.
@evacide I would be so interested.
@evacide There are a lot of such blogs; what would make yours distinctive and more worthwhile to what audience?
@evacide I definitely would
@evacide Yes, please. 🙋🏻♀️
@evacide Yup! I know I have poor security practices, as I've probably forgotten more than half of what I knew from lexis nexis.
@evacide Please? Just having a centralized place to reference your experiences and direct others to for learning would be priceless (or near to it enough as to make no difference).
@evacide I would be super interested. Bonus points if you explain in at least one post the security/privacy questions that went into deciding what host/service/platform you decide to use for the blog.
[Edit: you don't need any bonus points, obviously... I just meant it would be really cool]
@evacide when is the first episode going to be available (with RSS please)?
@evacide I have to do a digital safety lesson with some teenagers and am struggling to get past "assume it's a scam".
That's probably not helpful.
Do a blog so I can make them read it.
@evacide this is not a bad idea 🙋
@evacide Instant rss subscribe!
Count me in! Too many companies keep taking our privacy away with their technology and slop.
We all need to take it back.
@evacide i would appreciate this.
I'd certainly be interested and would appreciate a practical perspective.
Especially if it's not written for US residents only, telling them exactly why what their government is doing, and will keep on doing to them was illegal or unconstitutional.
I realize that pointing out legal caveats may be helpful to avoid some really nasty disasters in US courts – if you're living there, or prone to being abducted to the US.
@evacide 77K followers and you're asking if--yeah, I get it.
If the blog supports RSS, that's a hard Yes from me.
@evacide yes, please
@evacide Oh my word, yes please. That'll be an instant share to family.
@evacide not only would I be interested, but I would love to be able to provide it to friends/family/coworkers as a resource.
@evacide
Can you target people who really want to read useful things but can only parse information out of brightly coloured joke images?
@evacide
It'd be especially useful if it was end user targeted.
I know plenty of non tech folk who are becoming more aware of their lack of digital privacy daily. I'd be confident pointing them towards your write-ups if they'd get it without my needing to do much translating.
Yes. Any suggestions on privacy protection and basic system security.
@evacide definitely yes.
@AwetTesfaiesus das könnte vielleicht eine gute Basis für deine Anregungen sein
@evacide yes, please! :)
@evacide I'm interested
@evacide Getting better at this is my number one professional and personal goal this year so… please!
@evacide I'm sure plenty! I certainly would be.
@evacide And make it relevant to institutions too for those of us protecting / educating users.
@evacide Yes please! (RSS support ftw)
@evacide Right into my RSS reader
@evacide I'm mostly surprised you're not already doing one by yourself and/or for EFF 🤗
@evacide Why not a questionaire? I would ✅
@nemo Because I don't want to do a questionnaire.
@evacide Omg evacide answered me

This was the last time we've ever heard of nemo… 👼

+5, shut up and take my money!
(Suggestion: maybe do this as a poll, so input is unambiguous (unlike likes/boosts? Just throwing it out there)
@tychotithonus I am not looking for solid numbers. I am looking for a general vibe. I am also not looking for suggestions. If I had been looking for suggestions, I would have asked for them.
@evacide, this is exactly why I would read a blog from you. So, +1, I guess.
@evacide @tychotithonus There are certainly vibes. Would you link the link to this mastodon account? Would I need DoHS, VPN and Tor to access it?
As a general question would it be for a range of audience or specific audience? Are you writing for people who know and can do, or people have never considered, or people who don't know but can do, ...?
@evacide Apologies - it was intended in the spirit of helpfulness. Apologies.
@evacide I'd read that!
@evacide yes please. Your experience will benefit many.
