9 678 registered victims of human trafficking in 2024

In 2024, the number of registered victims of human trafficking in the EU was 9 678. There were 7 966 suspected traffickers and 2 599 convicted traffickers. Nearly two-thirds (63%) of the registered victims of human trafficking were women or girls. For suspected and convicted traffickers, less than a quarter were women (24% and 21%, respectively). Among the registered victims whose form of exploitation was reported in 2024, there were 4 219 victims trafficked for sexual exploitation (46% of all victims), 3 391 trafficked for forced labour (37%) and 1 487 trafficked for other purposes, such as organ removal, benefit fraud, criminal activities, forced begging and others (16%). Source dataset: crim_thb_vexp There has been a notable increase in the number of registered victims trafficked for forced labour or services. Between 2014 and 2018, the share of these victims stood between 14% and 21%, and from 2019 onwards the share was between 28% and 41%.
