An old software usage tip that I forget myself again and again, that may be of benefit to anyone:

If you want to learn to work with a new #software that is more advanced than the software you're used to, start by using it for the simple stuff you can already do with your familiar software.

I wanted to learn #Gimp for years, but kept doing basic stuff, like cropping or annotating a screenshot in simpler software. After deciding to do these easy tasks in Gimp too, I finally got familiar with it.

Screenshot showing the cropping of an image in Gimp from the rightclick mouse-menu: image -> Crop to selection. The image being cropped shows drawings of skeletons of mastodons.
