@dangoodin Choose your battles. Linux (BSD fan here, but realistically Linux) with web browsers, and *some* basic productivity are likely to be OK for a lot of people. Games, to some extent, are starting to get there but probably not a battle worth suggesting to the uninitiated. Beyond that, not so much.
A *lot* of open source requires more effort and are vastly less functional than commercial or corporate controlled systems.
Still remembering people seriously suggesting free alternatives to Zoom a few years ago when it's abundantly obvious they were less functional, less performant, and harder to use.
People whinge about the encroachment of Discord or Reddit without understanding why people use them.
Ignore them, they'll take too long to lift the blinkers from their eyes. Suggest options where they are generally a great choice, slowly things will improve.
