Word to the wise - Tarkovskys Stalker is available free in full in HD with subtitles on YouTube (if viewed on DuckDuckGo you'll have no ads). I'm glad I finally got around to watching it (even if I was supposed to be working). Did I enjoy it? Yes I think so despite it being impenetrable and extremely Russian and also not understanding the ending. Sort of gorgeous and achingly... something. An exploration of meaning and humanity or..... something. I'll be honest - it seemed quite a lot like the existential ramblings of grief and despair of..... well, me. Am I a Tarkovsky? Could be. Maybe I went into the room and this is what happened. My base desires laid bare. And I don't want any of it. Anyway! Watch it if you want. Or don't. But if you do watch it you MUST NOT DEVIATE FROM THE PATH. (little inside joke there for all the Tarkovsky-heads out there).

Does anybody want a dog?

@TheBreadmonkey Genius as it is, I always felt it lacked that most Russian of things - a clip of a speeding bus narrowly missing a very drunk man who is trying to cross the road while carrying a paper bag that the bottom has fallen out of.

@TheBreadmonkey If you liked it, you may also enjoy Hard to Be God, the new one. It's also an adaptation of Strugaccy, it's also unlike any other.
