If you let me know what news you're avoiding and I'll try to be better with CWs. I'm pretty good with UkPol / USPol, but equally I expect people to be using their filters, so if you're not wanting to see news about a specific thing I would recommend that's something you should add to your filters. However if it's the science news I post or news about ancient gold penis sheaths being discovered, that's something I'm unlikely to stop doing and then you have to make a decision about whether I'm the right follow for you. 😊
@TheBreadmonkey it's difficult to make filters when you do posts like this morning about the guy not wanting his family to enter to the country. I'll go back and figure it out... I already have a lot of keywords filtered.

@TheBreadmonkey Hmm, someone posted that video and I asked them to edit it to put it behind a content warning. So they added "Warning: [...]" literally in the text. I had to show a post with content warning and another with hidden media before they got it.
Some people are new to Mastodon and literally do not know that these features exist. Complete dumbasses.
@TheBreadmonkey I hear what you are saying and I agree about the alt text and filters. On the other hand imagine this situation: I am Ukrainian living in the UK but I still have family there. I once tried to post about a missile falling next to my niece's office, that she was distraught and I didn't know what to do. I was told off bc it wasn't behind a warning. I don't post about the war here anymore but I don't think it's right. Imo, a war should offend and upset, it's horrible.

Yeah I get that. My beef was primarily with a news source that seems to be Bluesky bridged and because it posts ICE murder content a dozen times an hour is almost always in Trending. However some of the images aren't amazing and although I don't always mind if people don't CW, at least include alttext so that I can filter it out. If I wanted to avoid news of wars and bombs I can filter those words out. But if you were posting images of it with no text and no alttext, that's coming straight into my feed and there's nothing I can do about it. And when I've not been given any choice, that is a dick move. You're golden though. 😊
Because my account is not bridged with Bluesky I get a message that the other user may not see my reply. I really don't want to bridge anything bc I don't understand all the implications of it. So my only option is to block or unfollow. I've done it myself. It's... yeah, it's where you draw the line.

I use the @IceCubesApp app, there is a setting I ticked so if I add an image to my toot, I am stopped from publishing if I didn’t add alttext to my image 😊 It’s optional but once I found it, I ticked the box.
I have no idea if there is a setting for web users or other apps.
