ICE assaulted a Native man—violently pulled him from his car—and detained him. He was then released because he is emphatically not an immigrant. Today they charged him—on a secret warrant and secret indictment, zero public evidence—with assaulting an ICE agent.

@mlncn If a US citizen is wrong detained by ICE, they should have every legal right to take whatever action is needed to free themselves from their kidnappers — up to, and including, physical assault.

@mlncn

Wanna bet, when the agent has to appear, his body camera was either off or he wasn't wearing one?

@PeterLG @mlncn ICE thugs don't wear body cameras. They don't want that level of accountability or legal liability.

IIRC, I saw his aunt's video of the abduction, and it was violent! I strongly believe that he shouldn't see any consequences for what MIGHT HAVE transpired, since both he and his aunt were very emphatic that he was native.

If this goes to trial, I'm not especially worried for him — as long as that video is presented.

As is standard everywhere in the US, Robbinsdale police allowed this violent abduction. They went a step further though and four days after the abduction released a statement, contradicted by witnesses and video, that "the individual being detained punched an agent in the face."

The person who wrote this statement for Robbinsdale PD, setting up #ICE's retaliatory charges, is almost certainly John Elder, former #Minneapolis PD spokesperson who lied about Derek Chauvin's murder of #GeorgeFloyd

Forgot to add where you can support the defense of the young man violently detained, and now charged under secret evidence, by ICE:

@mlncn Are public authorities allowed to lie in the US?

In Germany they're bound to a "principle of objectivity and factualness", which is implicit in our understanding of the rule of law.
