@thomasfuchs Not a touchscreen, but in the early ‘90s concept keyboards were briefly popular. These were a regular array of flat buttons where each one was programmable. The one I used had a default configuration with a qwerty and alphabetic keyboard and a few dozen commonly used words around the edge. You printed out sheets to tell you what the buttons did, which were held in place over the buttons.
The programmable buttons bit was nice, but the lack of travel made them hard to type on. Much more recently, I saw a keyboard where all of the keycaps were OLED screens, which you could program with any layout (including words on some buttons).
@thomasfuchs Lenovo made a laptop where the entire keyboard was a touchpad, for people who hate typing, tactile feedback, and themselves.
