@thomasfuchs as part of Engineering today AI usage is being encouraged to solve problems big and small and it's included in almost everything that get's shipped. So I get the point that if you used a computer today - yep - you used either a product that was built with it (probably in part but some even in whole) or something "interactive" like LLM's and the like.
Mozilla is just one big grift.

@thomasfuchs I keep expecting them to move the goalposts and define “AI” so generally that it basically boils down to all software being AI. I mean, an app that requires sign-in must be artificially intelligent because how else would it know if you put the right password in? How does a spreadsheet “know” how to add things together unless it’s artificially intelligent? And so on.
In which case, that definition of AI justifies the statement you referenced.

@thomasfuchs It's *possible* I've made some use of ML algorithms today. But GenAI as people have defined it? Zero. Same as every other day.
And I'm fully a participant in a computer-driven & online society. It's shocking, really, how *easily* you can avoid GenAI and still do all the normal computing things available to do today.

Like I’ve used computers for maybe 8 hours today and literally none of what I did had anything to do with “AI”.
No matter how much the tech industry wants to feed us their generative excrement, it’s simply at most some other tool that some people use.
