I recently had a minor mental breakdown. I had to cancel some commitments, and withdraw from the world. Isolation is a defense mechanism familiar to many survivors of trauma. But this recent meltdown felt different from past trauma responses. In this essay, Joan Westenberg offers a likely explanation for the difference. In short, I have been DDOSing myself.
