In December I notified my IG followers I would be leaving that social network and that if they wanted to follow me, they could do so on my blog, phone, e-mail, or mastodon. I left links on my profile, etc. I deleted the app on Jan 1st and never checked it again.
Today to my surprise I received a notification that I had a new follower request from some relative, and when I went there to decline I had *a lot* of unread messages from people who completely ignored...

... what I wrote, linked and the fact that my profile explicitly said "I AM NOT HERE ANYMORE"
I did what I had to do: I disabled the account without even bothering to read the messages.
I mean, they didn't read my previous messages either, right?
So now I don't have a profile anymore and I'm 100% off big social media. Freedom.
You know what would be *really really nice* to have now?
Fediverse for jobs - think #getfedihired and #fediHire but make it a thing of it's own. Instances for people who want to post jobs and seek jobs, but without the horror that is LinkedIn.
@renata I was just thinking about this the other day. Also for community organization, or something like Buy Nothing or FB Marketplace. It seems to me that the Fediverse needs more features that support groups and organizations making a home on Fedi.
