On my To-do list for the year is "switch to Linux for my daily", and having done the rummaging through shells/window managers thing previously I now know that what I want is "Windows 7, classic Shell".
you could do this with kde 4 back in the day, say "it's the update to vista"
added bonus: with akonadi it worked about as well as vista

Installed it, logged in, went “gah! This looks like Windows!”, and uninstalled it again 😂😂😂

That was going to be my original joke but then I thought it was too far (also I flat out refuse to speak to my computers, even if it's for a pre-approved list of deterministic commands)
