More reason why we have to rid ourselves of corrupt, corporate toady Democrats of dipshit #GenocideJoe's vile ilk (along with fascist RepugniQans). Obamacare was more bullshit crumbs. Time for Medicare for All!

Slashed Subsidies and the Single-Payer Solution - Truthdig

After decades of selling defeatism disguised as pragmatism, it’s time for Democrats to embrace "Medicare for All."

@LightFIAR Screw Medicare for All! That was the COMPROMISE.

What we need now is a national healthcare system, free at the point of service. No more health insurance companies!

@Quasit Like our federal government could ever run a healthcare system. What we need is for the federal government to end.

@freakazoid @Quasit I don't disagree at this point--but then how would we assure access to health care?

@LightFIAR Our government has no interest in assuring access to healthcare.

@freakazoid @Quasit Historically true. If we can transform the govt with good representation we may yet achieve it. Even if we do get unsullied Medicare-for-All there will always be problems to address, of course.

My question though is if we just rid the world of the US government (were that possible), how do we organize to assure access to healthcare, etc.?

@LightFIAR Oh! That's a good question. I'd say look at how people are organizing access to healthcare where the government and private healthcare providers are failing today: abortion, birth control, gender-affirming care, etc.

A lot of what government does is to actually block access to healthcare, by dictating who is allowed to provide it. For example, in many states RNs aren't allowed to practice without an attending MD. The AMA's main goal isn't to maximize the quality of care but to act as gatekeepers to ensure doctors and medical schools make as much money as possible, but the result is that doctors are also way overworked, and the work overflows onto other medical staff who aren't being paid enough.
