RE: https://infosec.exchange/@briankrebs/115962508398912420

I would never travel to a country that required this of me unless it was absolutely necessary.

I can’t blame anyone for making the same decision once this comes to pass.

(And it’s inevitable. Even if this particular version doesn’t happen, it’ll happen. We’ve been heading down this road for a while.)

@marcoarment I am glad I had the chance to visit the US a couple of times in the past, because there is no way I'm going back if this is implemented

@marcoarment We travelled to the US regularly. We have had many great family memories in south Jersey bodyboarding, swimming in the springs of FL, shopping in and around Syracuse, NY. We have not been back since Trump 2.0. This only confirms our choice. We’re sad about it though.

@marcoarment Visa applicants already have to provide their social media handles, and they’re talking about doing the same for ETSA visa waivers. I won’t travel to China on principle, I SURE as hell wouldn’t provide this kind of info to any country just to visit. Unfortunately these policies never get fully rolled back. @briankrebs

@marcoarment Doesn’t look like I’ll ever make it to Apple HQ after all. It was a “one day” dream but no ways I’m putting myself through all that.

@marcoarment @briankrebs now, at least it is a no longer a conscious choice to avoid travelling to the United States… I simply can’t. One less thing to waste mental energy on.

@marcoarment the irony here is, the us has quickly become the worst version of what they claimed China was, while at the same time causing the rest of the world to break ties with the USA and make deals with China.

@marcoarment May be not on your radar, there will be no US Consular appointments for VISA in 2026. Possibly to enforce the same measures you've referenced. Forcing further the ones that are here already to make the call to move out as renewal stampings become necessary. https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/why-us-consulates-in-india-have-run-out-of-h-1b-interview-dates-till-2027-10881619 @briankrebs

@marcoarment @briankrebs How long till the current Apple under Tim Cook allow the US Gov app more access than it should. Probably not long.

@marcoarment Also it’s unlikely that those requirement are reverted even after the Trump administration is over.

@marcoarment
Everyone without exception is going to have errors and/or omissions in their submissions, simply by nature of the data required. And that means they have legal leverage on every visitor whenever they want to use it. And that's one of the main points of the exercise.

@marcoarment They have been fingerprinting visitors (🇮🇳) for many years. The DNA extraction sounds sinister, though.

@marcoarment it’s almost hilarious with the World Cup coming. How are they going to process all those people who want to come here?
