@shinmera I checked Markless and I have several questions:

• Why make ordered lists dependent on user-provided counts? Having edited lots of HTML <ol>-s, I don’t like the idea of editing a list and then having to adjust all the elements after it too.

• Is text + nested list supported? I remember seeing a weird empty list item containing another list in some of your docs. Is that a typo or the way Markless does nesting?

• Is there a way to pass HTML-specific attributes to images etc? I like having width et al provided by Markless, but I’m too much of an HTML prepper to not think about more.

• Why use two markers for inline decorations (**bold**?) These are painful to type…

• Is there a reference for all special bang directives?

CC @zyd you mentioned Markless to me, so I remembered to tag you on this.

@aartaka
Because being able to skip and specify items is useful and outputting the numbers you type is intuitive.
Yes of course.
No. Markless does not necessarily output html.
Because it disambiguates from using an asterisk or a slash or an underscore etc in normal text.
There's a spec on the homepage.

@aartaka @zyd In general Markless' design prefers intuitive and consistent behaviour over convenient behaviour. A confusing behaviour of other languages for non-tech people in this respect is them accidentally invoking syntax when they don't mean to. Doubling the pre/suffix pairs makes that much less likely, and makes all of the inline syntax elements consistent with each other and the rest of the block prefix syntax, which is also two character based.
