As it's the birthday of Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet, I thought I'm post one of the surprising number of connections between Burns and Glasgow. This is a memorial to Alexander Findlater, an exciseman who was the friend, supporter, and one-time supervisor of Burns. In particular, Findlater vigouroulsy defended him after his death against charges he was a hopeless drunk.
