A few months back I was contacted by a fedizen in their early 20s who asked what they need to read, watch or listen to to get up to speed with the basics of tech politics. I really wasn't sure what to recommend. I sent them some links to the GNU philosophy pages and a few articles by Cory Doctorow, and recommended a book by Douglas Rushkoff (Throwing Rocks ...), but ...

What would you link to if asked a similar question?

I've been active in the software freedom world for more than a quarter century, so it's difficult - if not impossible - for me to see it through a newbie's eyes. But this is exactly what's needed, to understand what kind of primer would be suitable for getting journalists and decision-makers up-to-speed, for example.

I think it's such a broad topic that it's difficult to have one definitive 101.
Easier to do for an aspect of that tefh/politics intersection, like digital privacy, data sovereignty, AI regulation, etc.

Every aspect of politics touches the tech sphere in some way, because tech isn't really separable from the social anymore (to the extent it ever was); it's so entangled with every other part of our lives.
