@otfrom they're not. Sadly. They're well-meaning folk, but suffering from the usual UK public sector malaise of thinking things are only possible with funding and pitching their ideas ahead of the practice.
I mostly ignored them at first as a result. They do seem to have used their funding to get a bunch of useful folk to do stuff (and I'm getting a speaker fee for my compèring) so I'm trying to encourage them to move in better directions with their work.
