Look, I don't claim to be a genius, but it seems to me that if you're #jobHunting, you probably shouldn't put a link to your gitlab profile at the top of your resumé if the only two public repositories in it are forks of two different versions of an open source "AI Assistant" which brags about being stealthy and impossible to detect and supports full screen capture and audio input and seems to be purpose-built for things like oh, I don't know, cheating on job interviews.

Discovering this tonight in an applicant's gitlab profile has made me realize that we don't actually have an explicit policy we tell candidates about not using AI during the interview process. I need to have a conversation about that with HR and my manager tomorrow.

@jik We were doing interviews last year, and this is very important.... imho. One of the job requirements was writing, and the other one was writing code, and we had candidates using AI to do both, and who could not write nor code without the AI. (one candidate said: "If I can get the right answer by asking the AI, why can't I just use the AI?" and my answer was: "Well, I think we'll just hire the AI, and cut out the middleman!")

@ai6yr @jik

When I have reviewed applications lately; I have not had anyone defending their use of the automated plagiarism machines.

But we have had a few applications that were clearly written using them - fake citations; non-specific answers that gradually revert to particular phrases; and so on. They get quietly removed from the pool.

Yikes, fake citations especially. AI or no. Lying in the application, and a fake citation is a lie, immediately into the bin.
