Labour has decided in its 'reform' of the Competition & Market Authority (that rules on whether mergers can go ahead) to include removal of the independent panel that judges whether mergers might be/are anti-competitive.
So once again, we are in a situation where the Govt. would prefer business to mark its own homework (because that's how you 'support' economic growth, natch) and reduce/halt independent scrutiny.
Whether they will stick with it is another Q.?
