Sunrise over Lake Superior from Minnesota's North Shore this morning. It was -18°F (-27.8°C). I love the sea smoke that the cold temps create and the ice formations in the foreground were wild.

A photos showing sunrise over Lake Superior. In the foreground, a curved slot cut through the ice exposes the black basalt and that contrasts with the ice which is blue in the shadows and yellow on the highlights. Waves wash into the slot from the left and flow down angled basalt to the right. The overall color cast of the image is yellow with blues in the shadows. Sea smoke, which is fog, covers the big lake all the way to the empty horizon.
