New server, so new #introduction

Hi folks 👋 I'm Nathan, a public interest technologist. I've been on Mastodon since 2017, but just moved to Hachyderm from a single-instance server. I work at @freedomofpress as a support engineer on the @securedrop team.

In other lives I've been a Linux app developer and maintainer, a support specialist at System76, a sysadmin for a public school system in North Carolina, and an AP Computer Science Principles instructor.

I have a blog (https://nathandyer.me/blog) where I often write about minimalism, free software, indie games, bluetooth devices, and whatever comes to mind.

I am a 2x kidney transplant recipient, and sometimes post about kidney failure, kidney disease, and life after transplant.

I live near Asheville, NC (just over the TN border in the Tri-Cities), and live with my wife Elizabeth, two cats (Emma and Edward), and a corgi named Mushu (photo attached).
