Dear #ScienceFedi, is there an up-to-date list somewhere of scientific journals that do not require article processing charges and ideally are also #OpenAccess?

It's wild to me that authors or their institutions have to *pay* for the privilege of their important scientific work being published somewhere.

Thank you!

@rysiek What you're buying is impact (and exposure to some degree). If it's just about getting your findings out there, https://location.ac.tld/~name/foo.pdf + social media is good enough.

@patrick you might note that I did not ask the question you are providing an answer to.

I am aware why that happens. It is still wild that Elsevier and its ilk were able to take over that market so thoroughly and maintain their stranglehold even today.

And the way out of this are scientific journals that provide the impact and exposure you mention, without extortionate fees.

Which is what the question *was* about.

@nemobis @rysiek Thanks for sharing @DOAJ's info! There's also the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH), which we host. https://ddh.diamas.org/en

"Diamond" means OA with no fees for authors or their funders/institutions.
