Agreed with the erosion of the #Apple ecosystem. I'm not "almost equally happy" running GNU/Linux, I love using it in a way that previously enjoyed macOS & iPadOS. I don't feel the hardware constraints Rui mentions on a 2018 Thinkpad or on my 2012 Mac Mini. Daily html/css coding, page layout with Scribus, vector work w/ Inkscape are all very fast. Mint Cinnamon on the Thinkpad, Trisquel with KDE Plasma on the Mini is perfectly responsive.

Bonus: No #Fascism!

@dennyhenke Did you try to enable the MacOS citrl-alt/option/command key behavior in KDE? I got it working in Gnome and it made it so much easier. Also the Mint file browser works more like Finder. There's only a few Mac features burned into my muscle memory that make it so much easier when mapped onto Linux.

@davebauerart
Yeah, I've got it set fairly close. The control key is next to the spacebar. I've not found the solution to set the application switcher to Ctrl-Tab so that's a bit different. No problem though, I'm used to the change now.

Agreed on the file browser. The only thing I missed initially was the column view but I've gotten used to not having it. It does surprise me that column view has not become a standard option.

@dennyhenke The file browser feature I think is special is in list view, expanding a folder or multiple folders and being able to interact with the contents. It's just so handy! But seriously not the most important think in the world. Linux is just so fast on the old Mac hardware.

@davebauerart Yeah, agreed on list view. I've gotten in the habit of using that more often and yes, the expanding folder is very handy.

And yes, the OS is insanely fast. Honestly, after my first install I couldn't believe how fast it was. Good stuff!!
