Wohoo, I’ve become an @obsidian convert! Hallelujah!
After un-big-teching my ass to Nextcloud with the kind help of @pilviboksi, I’ve been quite satisfied with it – with the exception of Nextcloud Notes, which pales in comparison to Apple #Notes in every way. Especially the Mac standalone app is slow, old and lacking in features. (1/3)
But whaddayaknow, somebody recommended Obsidian here for note taking hullabaloo, and it sure looked way more promising. (Sorry, can’t find the recommender anymore, but thanks!) So I had to figure out whether it was possible to make Obsidian talk with Nextcloud to use it across all my devices.
And it is!
You’ll need the Remotely Save community plugin for that.

Install it both on the desktop/laptop Obsidian and your phone. Select WebDAV as the connection method. Server address ain’t just the plain server address of your Nextcloud, you need to add /remote.php/dav/files/YOUR-USERNAME/ to the end of it. That’s the only bump to jump over. (At least was for me.)
Works like a charm. As a bonus, you can _also_ use the Nextcloud Notes app when not on your own devices. Just make sure Obsidian is using your Nextcloud Notes folder as its vault. (3/3)
