I just saw “5/2 work week, 8 hours a day” listed as a company benefit.
What? Is this a fancy way of saying you’ll work a standard 40-hour work week, or are they trying to make it a point that they don’t require overtime or on-call hours?

@ramsey Considering the number of places I'm seeing rally around 9-9-6, having a 40-hour work week doesn't seem like a bad thing to advertise these days?
@chris Are there really that many places adopting 9-9-6?
@ramsey I feel like, in talking to friends who are actively looking, they're seeing it on more and more listings. I've started looking before I'll report a job on any socials and I would say doing it that way I probably see it in 30-40% of jobs that cross my screen.
@chris Are we living in a nightmare?
@ramsey In my experience working for a certain US company "40 hours" comes with the extra caveat of "and then some".
But don't forget that it's very country, culture and language dependent how full time and part time positions are described.
@alda This job description is for a US-based country, and I've never seen this phrasing used before.
@skc @ramsey @alda Yeah, getting everyone ready for 996. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/996_working_hour_system
@shawnhooper @skc @alda This is horrible!
@ramsey @shawnhooper @skc Funny how becoming a contractor got me out falling for the 996 mindset when it could have been far worse.
@ramsey Yeah.

@ramsey it's common in shift work.
