Furious that European forces have arrived in Greenland, Donald Trump now adds another 10 percent tariff on imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland, and threatens to raise it to 25 percent by June.

That is a 25 percent increase to all Americans dependant on European medicine.

He is steering directly towards a total trade war. Follow the US stock market closely, because this can go completely haywire.

@randahl if the EU had the courage to hit him by applying tarriff on the Software and Tech industry, lets say the double of the US one on EU with automatic update if he change his.

It would destroy his economy overnight.

@randahl that’s because everyone let it work. He threw a tantrum and every world leader fell over themselves to be the ones to make him happy. Now whenever he wants something he’s going to throw the same tantrum. You can capitulate now and lose Greenland but you’ll get the same tantrum when he wants Canada, and Mexico, ect.

@randahl Here is the post from a site that posts all of his weirdness, so you can read, without entering the toxic zone: https://trumpstruth.org/statuses/34583

Trump's Truth

Donald J. Trump: "We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, ...

We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it. They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently. Only the United States of America, under PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play in this game, and very successfully, at that! Nobody will touch this sacred piece of Land, especially since the National Security of the United States, and the World at large, is at stake. On top of everything else, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland have journeyed to Greenland, for purposes unknown. This is a very dangerous situation for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Planet. These Countries, who are playing this very dangerous game, have put a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable. Therefore, it is imperative that, in order to protect Global Peace and Security, strong measures be taken so that this potentially perilous situation end quickly, and without question. Starting on February 1st, 2026, all of the above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On June 1st, 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%. This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland. The United States has been trying to do this transaction for over 150 years. Many Presidents have tried, and for good reason, but Denmark has always refused. Now, because of The Golden Dome, and Modern Day Weapons Systems, both Offensive and Defensive, the need to ACQUIRE is especially important. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are currently being spent on Security Programs having to do with “The Dome,” including for the possible protection of Canada, and this very brilliant, but highly complex system can only work at its maximum potential and efficiency, because of angles, metes, and bounds, if this Land is included in it. The United States of America is immediately open to negotiation with Denmark and/or any of these Countries that have put so much at risk, despite all that we have done for them, including maximum protection, over so many decades. Thank you for your attention to this matter!DONALD J. TRUMPPRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Consider for a moment the psychology of the principal involved.

You could declare a trade embargo of exports to the United States.

That quarter kind of leverage though would require the EU to be technologically independent of the United States.

Technological sovereignty really is a thing…

If you haven’t heard Cory Doctorow’s recommendation for measures at the EU has to reclaim tech sovereignty, consider restoring the right to reverse engineer and to repair. Basically shred up elements of trade agreements that criminalize what is a property right.

You can spice up that measure by stridently declaring that frees markets from the shackles of USSR style centralized command and control economics.

The Danish PM alluded to a common Danish pre-game pep talk the day before the Rubio/Vance meeting (that cigarette one).

The standard version is "We come together, we leave together" (Vi kommer sammen, vi går sammen.)

She said "We come together, we stick together and we leave together" (Vi kommer sammen, vi bliver sammen, og vi går sammen.)

@randahl The EU will now need to rip up the trade agreement with the USA and pointedly stop buying US oil and LPG.

It starts to get messy when we start selling off all those US bonds, at that point it really could melt down quite spectacularly with a US default a couple of years later.

I find it very depressing that the media, in the UK at least, report what Trump says as if it has some deep meaning or longevity. The man is a failed business man, an adjudicated felon, and a sociopath. His desire for personal financial gain is matched only by his desire for adoration and publicity.

When will our countries finally understand and start to act rationally. We should cancel all F35 contracts and threaten him of reciprocal tariffs. Yes it would coat us, but this is the only language that he understands.

@randahl Everyone in Europe should give a clear answer with their buying behavior. Goods for which we have alternatives are not bought. Starting with Coca-Cola and McDonald's to Tesla and US-owned brands such as Milka (Mondelez). Do we need Disney, Warner, Netflix or Facebook/Instagram and all their shit?
When will the Europeans finally understand that they are not friends, but enemies.

Let's cut the marionette cords that captivate us.

@randahl this is an attack on EU unity, he's testing if the EU is actually willing to fight for Denmark. But if they're not then why be in the EU? This could be an existential battle for the EU.

The one thing Trump can't win is a trade war with the EU, though. I hope we starte selling off US bonds.
