Minnesotans say "hell no!" to ICE, and representative Ted Lieu reminds ICE that when Trump is removed from office, the statute of limitations on their crimes is still five years, and "while this administration will not hold anyone accountable, I guarantee you, a future administration will."

@randahl Just remember: the incentive for them to avoid this guarantees an all-out war for final control

@randahl That would require a pit bull justice department. And we saw after Jan 6th that the Democrats are milquetoast, unfortunately.

@randahl They know that. And they're correctly terrified of it. And that's why they're going to do everything they can to avoid it or prevent it. Maybe whatever it takes.

@wesdym I would not be surprised if the regime has promised a full pardon to all the ICE goons.

@randahl @wesdym

There are no pardons, no immunity, and no statutes of limitations at the #InternationalCriminalCourt.

@randahl The president can remove most (though not all) legal consequences (for federal crimes only). He cannot remove or prevent what's sometimes called 'real life' consequences, though.

If enough people hate you, it doesn't matter what the law says. Hiring decisions -- legal ones -- will be made based on prior service, which cannot be (legally) concealed. (And trying to conceal it is even worse.)

The long-term consequences will be up to the People, not the president.

@randahl "statute of limitations on their crimes is still five years"?
There is no statute of limitations for murder.

@JamesK there is 1 case of murder, yes, but also hundreds of cases of other crimes, which I think was his motivation for mentioning the 5 years.

@randahl @JamesK Nothing wrong with the statement about 5 years. But the most famous murder of Renee Good can be prosecuted at any time in the remainder of the murderer's life: he can never think he has escaped. That's the motivation in mentioning the lack of limitation. And there is at least one other murder by ICE: the Cuban detainee in El Paso whose death ruled a homicide.

@randahl @JamesK @jackcole There is one well-known case of murder, and a number of lesser known cases. They also need some light shone on them.
