Here are some details I've learned working on the role:

* #Flutter experience is a MUST (and what we're having the most difficulty finding)

* Unfortunately this role can't be fully remote, plan on 1 day/week onsite in the Capitol area. Otherwise, you'll have very flexible work hours

* There's no wiggle room on the 5+ years fulltime related experience as it's a requirement by the government partner

* Passion about improving government/government transparency will go far

Software Engineer - Mobile

Join Verdance and help improve government digital services! About the role You’ll join a growing company working with a variety of government agencies to build high-quality digital public services. Your initial project placement will be with a Congressional customer, working on a mobile app & backend that staff, journalists, and members of the public use to track Congressional activity in real time. This role will require some on-site availability as needed (likely an average of 1x a week), so living within a reasonable commute of the Capitol area is a must. This role is contingent on a final government project award decision— which is expected in January. Here are our must-have priorities for this role: - 5+ years of software engineering experience - Substantial mobile development experience, ideally in the Flutter/Dart environment - Substantial backend engineering experience - Strong comfort with JavaScript or Python, and the ability to pick up new tools and languages as needed - Enthusiasm to learn the learn the ins and outs of the Congressional data environment - Understanding of best practices resilience and fault-tolerance data integrations Here’s what we hope you bring: - A civic tech background - Enough infrastructure experience to be comfortable scrubbing in on DevOps tasks where needed - Understanding of unit testing, CI/CD, and cloud services - Experience writing efficient, maintainable code - Desire to learn about government and help make it better - Desire to work at a small company focused on thoughtful growth - Professionalism, curiosity, and humility Here’s what we’re offering in return: - $145k-$173k salary range (depending on seniority) - 4 weeks PTO per year + federal holidays - Insurance, including dental and vision - 401(k) with 4% match - 12 weeks paid parental leave - Flexible work schedule - A interview process that respects your time Some administrative requirements of our government contracts: - Work authorization in the US - All work must take place in the continental US - Team members must have lived in the US for 3 out of the past 5 years - You'll have to pass a public trust government background investigation A little more about us Verdance is a public interest technology firm, spun up to help government partners navigate critical technology challenges.
