Shit posting about Iran is a hot topic on social media.

They made up 2000 deaths, then over night it jumped to 12000 and now they claim it's 20000 deaths in 3 days.

And of course TikTok is pushing them on every account.

A lot of fake posts, AI videos and AI images are paid ads by new accounts created in the past 10 days.

In the mean time, tRump and EU putting more sanctions on Iran, making life more miserable for the people.

@faab64 the 12000 number seems to be floated by UN Watch (which I didn't know was just an isreali lobby group until I read the Wikipedia page yesterday after looking up this report)

@liaizon @faab64 @faab64 That’s fine. Just open up the internet, let UN take investigators in instead of showing doctored videos to privately held meetings with ambassadors and threatening Iranians in Italia to advocate for them, and we will have a good number of people that died during _this_ riot that may satisfy you.

I’m not sure how you relate inaccurate data of death of people to Trump and sanctions, but your post does not seem to benefit the people in Iran, but mostly the government.

@Prma I was trying really hard to search for information about what the situation was. My partner is also Iranian so feeling the fear for the safety of family members we can't get ahold of. A single person murdered by the regime for protesting for their freedom is too many let alone 400 or whatever number the true number is. It is very scary to find a report that gets reported like it is fact that makes a claim of such a huge number and I was searching to try to find out more about it.

@liaizon I hope it is clear that the only reason I set it as a reply to my account is for you to also get CCed on this. I’m not really sure what this person’s deal is but they sound a lot similar to what Islamic Republic sounds like. Questioning inaccurate numbers, mocking individuals as a strawman tactic and then claiming all the problems are caused by sanctions and western interference.

@Prma thanks for the response. I was sorta worried to respond to them the first time cause I could tell there was something up with some of their takes, but also I am not seeing enough people post about the how all the fake stuff IS being posted about too so its sorta a double edged sward.

@liaizon
The first time it was mentioned during a "Iranian phone call" on Israeli funded "Iran international" TV and spread all over.

Even Reuters and AP posted about it quoting "Iranian government source" and the US base "Iranian Human Rights Organization" says they have "proof" of if.

In the mean time they all sharing edited version of Iranian TV broadcast from Jan 10 showing victims of armed riots on Jan 8-9 (full version on my telegram channel)
