@jeffjarvis I know a number of Republicans who believe this--who think that all we have to do is get rid of the person in (what's left of) the White House and they can all go back to "normal." They don't understand that our present is the logical and inevitable progression from Reagan and Scalia.
@jeffjarvis How do people not get that conservatism always implied and will always imply Trump? Like Solnit says, its highest commitment was always to the freedom from caring about others. There is no end-game to “anti-Trump conservatism.”

When is MSNOW going to realize the days of Joe Scarborough are over? He was in Congress 31 years ago, he and his opinions are passė. Four hours of his BS is 4 hours too much.
This is EXACTLY a conservative's America. Reagan loved death squads, ICE would be his dream come true. Scalia was a huge racist who would have loved to deport everyone browner than a piece of paper.
