How is riding the bus so incredibly exhausting?!!
How is riding the bus so incredibly exhausting?!!
"Oh my god why do people live in cities?!" I yell to myself as I sit here within walking distance of more restaurants than exist in the entire province of Saskatchewan and an easy bus ride to like 37 world-class museums.
(Yes, I survived the first commute. It was just... a lot... for me, who often works from home and lives half a km from my nearest neighbour.)
@sundogplanets In the same way that some people used to say "1000 channels, yet there's still nothing on TV", I've said "there's nothing to eat in Victoria". (jokingly of course)
@sundogplanets I turned out to be a city girl, which is so odd to me. I do still get nauseated even seeing movies where there are large office buildings full of windows, and people behind every window, all stacked on each other, separated by the confidence of architects, and yet I traipse over to doctor offices on the 7th floor, or the 6th floor, in a giant multi-building campus. My house is a sweet little single-story lady from 1925, and it's my decompression chamber.
How is riding the bus so incredibly exhausting?!!
@sundogplanets for me busses are worse for nausea. i love me a good tram or train.
@sundogplanets I feel so used to it. Once you sit down there is no responsibility. Perfect time to listen to a new album, read the news, play a video game, learn a language, or even shop for groceries!
@sundogplanets I love transit when it’s not crowded and underfunded, and properly allocated road space like the time of its riders matter; so right now I love e-biking more.
@sundogplanets climbing on the bus is a big vertical for a Saskatchewaner
@sundogplanets Buses are stressful and a total waste of my time. I can't do anything there - except a conversation if I bring a friend.
No wonder many city people drive cars when they can.
@sundogplanets with my introvert AuDHD head on?
The constant need to mask, plus being hypervigalant.
@sundogplanets people live in cities because you’ve got everything on your doorstep. You don’t need a car. Anywhere that is too far to walk you can get a bus.
@sundogplanets and yet, urban life is probably the main reason for global warming and environmental collapse.
@sundogplanets is the #profsamlecturetour coming to Montreal?
Hush! Tell them how wonderful city life is. What would Saskatchewan be like if Toronto lived there?
You must be mistaken. I never said that.
@oldclumsy_nowmad I think the -40 and blizzards does a pretty good job of that... but good point!
@sundogplanets @oldclumsy_nowmad That sounds like a valid excuse to own a snow cat... I see no negatives.
@sundogplanets My four year old an I did five hours on Vancouver transit yesterday because he finds it fun. You’ve got this!
@sundogplanets looks like a lively place to sit and gather your thoughts.. have a good trip!
@sundogplanets This is the peace we need. Happy Silent Sunday to you and best regards.
@sundogplanets
Wishing you a pleasant commute, with or without the obligatory hundred bottles of beer on the wall. 😉
@sundogplanets “We’re not in Saskatchewan anymore, Toto.”
@sundogplanets Peace backatcha. Lovely respite there. Yes, good luck on your travels tomorrow!
