Every day the twilight extends a little more, and inch by inch the sun prepares its eventual re-entry. 3 more weeks to go! For me, living at a moderate 51 degrees in southern England, the extended polar cycle has endless fascination. It seems to tell us something fundamental about life. Thank you for today's evocative photograph!
@the_roamer The changing light is a never ending source of beauty.
@NunavutBirder wow. amazing shot
@NunavutBirder thank you for posting these shots from your corner of the world. Every time I see one, I stop and analyze it. It brings me joy. Many others, too, as I’ve seen.
@NunavutBirder Beautiful! If you don't mind me asking, what part of Nunavut are you in? I forecast weather for the Arctic and am always interested in life up there.
@buffaloseven Arctic Bay. North end of Baffin Island.
@NunavutBirder Oooo! I forecast for there regularly. Tricky place, nestled away from precipitation in a bunch of cases and, as you know, has some tricky winds at times. Not too much longer until you see the sun again :)
@buffaloseven Three weeks. Technically two, but because of the lay of the land we don’t see it until Feb 6th. The light grows daily.
Wind is strange here at times, summer time it can be windy in town but go over the hill to Victor Bay and it’s dead calm.
Have a friend at Environment Canada, Andrew Giles.
@NunavutBirder Very special.
@johnefrancis about 3 weeks. February 6th
@NunavutBirder Beautiful. Are you above the Arctic circle there, or do you see at least a bit of sun year-round?
@drdirtbag Yes. 73 deg north. We don’t see the Sun for three months.
@NunavutBirder What a beautiful photograph.
