@CartyBoston Our term for it back in the late 80s was "cultural imperialism" - the money that flowed into the entertainment industry, to refine the propaganda and influence operation, was astounding.

It wasn't just the US doing it, don't get me wrong. The Brits were and still are very effective at it too - the BBC alone is still a mighty soft-power instrument, to say nothing of the many film-production companies, the radio, print journalism (utter shite though a lot of it is). and so on.

@CartyBoston
For any Americans still labouring under the misapprehension that the rest of the world loves America: we don't. We never did.

Some Seppos are perfectly fine people, plenty are definitely not, and as a group all of you believe far too much in the bullshit you've been spreading for decades about how wonderful you all are.

The nickname "Seppos" is a good indication of the level of esteem most Aussies hold Ameirca in, for reference.

@brad I guess I am just confused about the world being obsessed with American culture. Not Trump, the whole thing.

I get it, a *lot* of money has been flowing around since WW2.

@CartyBoston Anything with explosions, boobs, fast cars, and guns will fascinate most people. We are simple creatures.

"Trust" is one of the words people on my spectrum have trouble with.
