ok so I am a nitwit on all this tech stuff but from that standpoint it seems to me that starting a new mastodon instance and calling it fork- and -iverse misrepresents what both terms mean around here? and thus is not going to help any new users making *more* sense of this means of communication? (I already see much confusion even from some people who have already had mastodon accounts for a while) #forkiverse

tl;dr: your #forkiverse, is it not in fact merely a #servinstance?

that said, anyone connecting with the fediverse because they heard the podcast: I hope you have a great time connecting, whether it’s through #forkiverse or any other way!

(do follow @FediTips for helpful insights on how all this works, and once you feel comfortable, check their excellent instructions on how to move between instances if you wish: https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/)
