Apparently, there is one person who co-authored 37 papers for #chi2026 馃槕 This is rather ridiculous, what sort of contribution per paper can you expect here? Probably time for a cap on how many papers you can be author on. /cc @sigchi

@floe @sigchi I have seen communities where "the prof is always in the author list" is established standard. I don't know how thie HCI community handles that, tho.

@krono @sigchi I've seen that as well, but maybe 20 years ago - I was sort of hoping that practice isn't quite as common anymore, but perhaps not 馃檮

@floe @sigchi well, KPIs and metrics might play into that. If "number of accepted papers" is part of "how much funding does the chair get next year", well.

Also, one line of argument is "X contributed by supplying employment, money and general counseling" or so

@krono @sigchi Good point, and CRediT (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/leap.1210) even lists "Funding Acquisition" as a potential contribution (somewhat to my surprise, I admit).

OTOH, I also seem to remember that all authors are required to assume joint responsibility for the content of their paper, and I sincerely doubt that person could even name all 37 paper titles they have co-authored...
