The six RAM modules donated by $you_know_who_you_are (they did not request public gushing) for the Ampere system on loan from @winterschon with BIOS from @bexcran WORK!

Boom! A 64GB RAM/32 vCPU #ARM64 #bhyve VM booted in seconds!

Roman has made LibVirt progress on the system, as has @hayzam on #Sylve.

Go team!

@dexter @winterschon @hayzam I’ve found you can create a VM with up to about 262GB before it fails to boot. My system has 2TB RAM so I want to get VMs with up to about 1.5TB booting eventually!

@bexcran @winterschon @hayzam Do you know or have a hunch of where that limitation comes from?

@dexter @winterschon @hayzam so there are two things going on at least. After 262GB u-boot starts hanging. Then at another point, bhyve starts failing to start saying it can’t allocate the memory.
