Aurora borealis over Ballaine Lake in mid-September, an unexpected show while on my way home from the gym late at night.

Green aurora borealis forms tall, flowing curtains across a dark night sky above Ballaine Lake. Bright green arcs rise from the treeline on the far shore and stretch upward, with softer, dimmer bands spreading out to the left. The forest along the lake is silhouetted as a dark line of spruce trees. The aurora is reflected clearly in the still water, creating a mirrored pattern of glowing green shapes on the surface of the lake. Small stars are visible in the black sky between the auroral bands.
